Why do you have a licensing system?

We have a licensing system for two reasons.

1. To help prevent chargebacks. People would regularly purchase the software, get the code, and then do a chargeback to get the software for free. The licensing system has cut this problem down almost completely.

2. License Enforcement - After version one was released on the honor system, we soon started getting support requests from people that had purchased the software from others that were not authorized to sell it. Some that had payed quite a lot more for the software we decided that we needed to protect ourselves as well as the public.

The licensing system is as unobtrusive and automated as possible. The software will write and update a local key on your system  automatically and you should not even notice it is there. We also have a backup license server in place if needed.
